THE BUFFALO PROJECT
The Society Started Buffalo Project by providing a buffalo each to thirty families with the project vision.
They are a good investment. Suppose a new farmer starts with Buffalo, he or she gets an average of 9 litters milk one day and can get INR 35 per litter. This way on an average, the family can earn INR 9450/-monthly. Eventually, with a sale price of Buffalo-which is typical in North India-he/she can earn more than INR 28000 each.
They help keep children healthy. Malnutrition kills many children in rural areas of Rajasthan and Punjab. Although drinking Milk-which is rich in protein and other nutrients-can help fight malnutrition, many farmers with small flocks find that it's more economical to sell the milk, and use the money to buy nutritious food.
They empower women. Because in Punjab and Rajasthan Buffalos typically stay close to home, Women who sell milk are likely to reinvest the profits in their families.
PRINTING PRESS
The Society established Xavior Printing Press in 1994 at Muktsar in Punjab with the objective to provide technical and skilled training and employment opportunities to the village youth. This Centre provides training in Desk Top Publishing (DTP) and it is also used as a resource center for the Village development centers and Skill Development Programmes.
