SOCIAL APOSTALATE

Social apostolate of our congregation derives its inspiration from the compassionate and caring life and teaching of Jesus (constitution N. 90). It is also characterized by the spiritual vision of St. Little Flower who taught us to be little ones among the little ones whom we serve (const. No.99). The congregation has the lively history of practice in this perspective under the guidance and original inspiration of our founder Fr. Basilius, who exhorted us to do the deeds of love and care as Jesus has done(lk.10:37)

Time passes and progresses and it remains all the time the apt and right time to re-interpret the need of the world and humanity in the perspective of salvific action and in manifesting the kingdom of God(Mt.9:35,16:2-4). There is now a fast shift from particular specification of areas such as rural development, commitment for socially marginalized and distanced groups etc. to universal perspectives. Hence we have to re-interpret the social situation in which we live and find ourselves. We find everywhere the fertile soil for social commitment. We are now compelled to serve the humanity that is affected and influenced by global needs, exploitation, marginalization and alienation.

An over-view

Social work often shows the face of the congregation. So it is better for us to think positively about social work. We may be tired in the school, or in the parish, but social work does not disturb us like that, social apostolate will excites us and offer a meaningful world. We all love to bring back memories from our journeys to remind us of the good times. Let us hope to have some good memories doing good for the people.
